The event was also attended by the Mayor of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, who said that it is extremely important that this Chinese company chose Novi Sad for its first factory in Europe.

It is a company that produces and markets heavy trucks and buses, as well as vans with audio lighting and minibuses.

SHAC has begun testing its production line and trial production on 19,000 square meters in the Kać Industrial Zone.

“It is a great pleasure for me to attend the opening of the Shac company. In May, I visited their headquarters in China and saw for myself why they have been around for 30 years,” Mićin said.

He stated that the production facility is extremely important for Novi Sad and that it represents one of the most advanced technologies in Europe.

“It is highly significant that they chose Novi Sad for their first factory in Europe. This is a fully robotized plant, and every job matters to us, so the initial 20–30 employees will be working with state-of-the-art technologies,” Mićin said.

According to him, in two years more than 200 people will be employed, enabling the development of the automotive industry in Novi Sad.

“I would also like to thank BMW and Volkswagen, who are here to support the development of this company. You should know that there are about 19,000 square meters here, with the capacity to expand by an additional 30,000 square meters,” Mićin concluded.

The general manager of Shac in Germany, Erik Ru, said that opening the factory in Novi Sad marks the company’s entry into the European market and that he is especially pleased that China is achieving this together with Serbia.

“I am glad that we are opening Shac in Novi Sad today. I want everyone to always feel welcome here. We have always worked on efficiency, and this factory will strengthen the ties between Serbia and China,” Erik Ru said.

The senior vice president of BMW, Dr. Wolfgang Blumlhuber, said that today’s opening marks the beginning of a new era of cooperation between Shac and BMW.

“First, I want to congratulate Shac on building such a factory in such a short time. BMW and Shac have had a long partnership at the global level. This cooperation supports the economy as well as the development of BMW,” Blumlhuber said.

According to him, BMW builds its success on balanced operations around the world, and companies like Shac make BMW more competitive on the market, both in terms of materials and the final product.
